What Problems Might Be Found With My Chimney?

Chimney problems are often hard to recognize for someone that isn’t certified in chimney inspection. They aren’t easily seen by the person using the fireplace and chimney. Most commonly, we see cracks in the back of the firebox or wind damage to your flue. This is something we’ll notice in our cursory inspection.

We’ll also notice if your chimney is due to be swept. The smoke that comes from your fireplace contains various different things that cause build-up called creosote. This creosote then lines the chimney each time you use your fireplace. Once the build-up gets to about ⅛ of an inch, it’s time to get it taken care of.
